Derek's Mission London England (The Best first Year)

Well Derek's been out on his mission a year as of September 19th 2007. Time has really flown by and he is loving every minute. He is serving in the England - London Mission. This will be a quick overview. The towns he's served in order is: Bletchley, Chelmsford, Aylesbury, and Basildon. He's had 6 companions: Davis, Horne, Sorensen, Smith, Mackliet and Guenche. His last area he was made a zone leader and is getting lots of opportunities to teach and serve. He's had several baptism's and has one coming up this Oct. 4th. This weekend all the zone leaders are going to the London Temple and then have a 2 hour meeting with a general authority, which he is looking forward to attending. Derek's letters have been so inspiring and fun to read. He has really caught the missionary spirit and spends every spare minute reading the scriptures or studying out of
Preach My Gospel. Thank you everyone for all your support and prayers. Here's a few pictures of his first year.

Ward Campout Sept. 19-20th

c

We had a fun ward activity/mixed in with a hard bike ride for Rick and Jon.
It started out at our house at noon on Friday. Rick, Jon, Todd, Allen, and Bryce rode
their bikes as in peddling 78 miles all up hill to Payson. Got there around 6 p.m.
We met them at the Subway about 10 minutes after they got there. It takes about
1 1/2 hours of driving in a car. They replenished their energy by eating at the greasy
KFC. Then we headed on up to Camp Lomia (a church owned girls camp). It was so
fun to get together with everyone playing games, watching all the families show off
their talent or not so much talent. The Green family was a mariachi band and sang
to the tune of La Bamba, only our own words: "We're not really mariachi's, we're just
a couple of Green-Go's with mustaches on. We sing for food all day long. Burritos and
Taco's make us strong. We hope you enjoy this little song...Green-Go a go-go....It was
silly but fun. All the adults played games till about 1:30 a.m. and the kids ran around
till about midnight. We were the old geezers and fell asleep about 11:00. Breakfast was
bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and pancakes. It was a super activity that really brought
our ward together.
