Mesa Easter Pageant

Excited about the Easter Pageant coming up this year at the Mesa Temple. I invited my husbands secretary to go with us and she and her daughter are going to go with us the first day it opens, which is April 1st. To find out dates and times go to http://www.easterpageant.org/
. The sister missionaries challenged our ward to a contest. They said they can beat our ward in inviting more people to the Easter Pageant than our whole ward combined could invite. They probably are right. But I figured I'd give it a try and it was so easy. Rick's secretary/acct. has gone with us before but it's been a few years. She loved the idea of going again and I told her the challenge the missionaries extended to our ward and she said she would love to help and pass out the cards to as many non-members as possible, since she knows so many. But the catch is - on passing out the cards is you have to tell them about the easter pageant and testify of a gospel principle and invite them to come. I think they called it a "TTI" (tell, teach, invite). If I'm wrong please correct me. I did testify to her that if she would come to the Easter Pageant she would come closer to Christ. It's that easy. My son Danny has a friend who is taking the missionary lessons and has now commited to baptism. It's that easy!! My son Derek who is on a mission in the London England mission is planning on 4 or more baptisms just this month. It's that easy!! So everyone please tell, teach and invite all your friends about the Easter Pageant. It's That Easy.

Globe Day Trip

My Dad has had an inclining to go to Globe for the longest time. He hadn't been there since 1944, when he rode a bus from Chicago to LA and he remembered stopping in Globe. It hasn't changed that much since 1944. It's like a town frozen in time. But we had a fun little drive up and back and stopped at the train depot, which was built in 1919. You can ride the train from Globe to the copper mine and even stops at the Casino and comes back all in 1 1/2 hours round trip. My Dad's father worked for the Pacific Electric in Calif. so he has a great fondness for trains. He enjoyed talking to the Conductor who wanted to know if he fought in WWII. He shook his hand and said "thank you for saving the world." My dad said nobody had ever put it in that perspective before.
But we saw only a few poppies along the rode which was the main purpose of the drive. We'll try it in a couple weeks from now. But I think the wildflowers will be spectacular because of all the rain we've had. We just need a few warm days to bring them out. The weather today was a sunny 69 degrees in Globe with a sprinkling of leftover snow on the hillsides from our last storm.
The water was running in the creek along the roadside and we stopped to take a picture of a fisherman fishing in the pond, you can barely make him out amongst the trees at the bottom of the canyon. The train conductor had fun blasting us out with his train whistle as you can see in the video.

It got Framed

We drove by our Stake Center yesterday and totally surprised to see it all framed up. It's HUGE!! I can't believe how big it is, and the parking lot is huge too. It burned down November 19, 2007 and they just started building a couple months ago. It should be done by the end of this year. To tell you the truth I haven't really missed it because it has been so convenient to go to our building if there's any stake meeting. But it will be nice to have a nice new stake center.

Happy Birthday Shout Out

Happy Birthday Ivette, my darling daughter- in- law married to my son Jon.
We all love her to pieces. She is so talented and cute. Ivette was born in Iowa,
grew up most of her life in Canada, graduated from BYU in education and came
down to Mesa with her roommates to teach. She met Jon, got married, and then
got her real estate license. Worked in the real estate industry for a couple years, and
now is teaching High School Biology. She is the sweetest, kindest person you would
ever meet and we are so lucky to have her in our family.

(Here's a turtle chocolate cheese cake just for you!

Working 9 to 5

This is what happens when I start helping down at Rick's work....nothing. No blogging, so it's been 10 days since I last posted. I'm still alive but just not around. I don't know how people do it (working full time) day in and day out. You get frazzled. I still try to squeeze in all my other regular chores, just at odd irregular hours. I do not want to be a career women. I'm so thankful that Rick makes enough money so that I don't have to work. I love staying at home and being a full time mom. It's the best feeling in the world. But I am glad to help out when needed, and in these hard times I think everyone is feeling the pinch. You just do what you have to do and do it in a cheerful way. See ya I got to get dinner.

Oh...... Rubbish

I've heard my mom use the word "rubbish" to mean trash. Derek's said it in his email's a few times to mean something not good (I think). I just wanted to post this picture to show what rubbish comes out of my garden. There's rose clippings from the 51 rose bushes, a little bit of citrus trees, and ficus trees, apple trees, peach trees and pear trees all thrown onto this big long trailer. The picture really doesn't do it justice. It's ALOT of rubbish. I even had Rick cut a few big branches with the chain saw. It was a funny sight, with his two gimpy legs, he would hold the chain saw while I would hold him up. It got kind of dicey, after a branch hit him in the head. I've missed his help this year. I don't mind cutting up the trimmings but it's the stuffing it in the trash or throwing it on the trailer that I don't like. Rick would always be nice and do that part for me. But I'm finally done, at least the cutting part. I can't feel my arms and hands but that to will pass. Now I can't wait for spring to come with all the citrus tree blossoms to smell. We've been enjoying our orange trees. I have two Valencia's and have been squeezing as fast as I can. Michael and Jon, especially Jon think about the fresh orange juice all day and come over a couple times a day to get a tall glass. I call it "God's Gold" it takes alot of oranges to just make one glass.
I have alot of pink grapefruit just going to waiste if anyone wants some, just come on back and pick it.
