Lehi Days

Our Stake puts on a huge Rodeo every year. And Rick and I have helped out with the Barbeque over the years. We do the fun stuff which is serving the food. But behind the scenes to get it ready is a major undertaking with months of planning and preparation going into it. My friend Diane Horne was second in command and she worked her tail off. Thanks Diane for all you do. I don't know how many barbeque beef lunches we served but it was close to 2,000. We served shredded bbq beef that was cooking in a deep pit for 24 hours. Then they had baked beans, cole slaw, and yummy potatoes and a role. We ran out of beans first and then the cole slaw. We served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 am it was just go-go-go the whole time. Ricks job was to shred the beef, and I had the fun job of serving the potatoes, which if any got away I was there to lap it up. There was loads of people this year, more than in years past which has been going on for close to 40 years (give or take). Last year Kenzie got a coveted silver belt buckle for riding a calf. They had to tell her it was time to get off because she could have ridden that thing all day. Most people were getting bucked off the minute they popped out of the shoot. The night before the rodeo they have a western dance and rodeo event signups. Kenzie went to the dance with her friends and had a blast. I didn't get to watch the rodeo this year because we were busy with the bbq and then went to Danny's friends baptism. But everyone had a great time and it was another beautiful day in sunny Arizona.

Mesa Easter Pageant

Excited about the Easter Pageant coming up this year at the Mesa Temple. I invited my husbands secretary to go with us and she and her daughter are going to go with us the first day it opens, which is April 1st. To find out dates and times go to http://www.easterpageant.org/
. The sister missionaries challenged our ward to a contest. They said they can beat our ward in inviting more people to the Easter Pageant than our whole ward combined could invite. They probably are right. But I figured I'd give it a try and it was so easy. Rick's secretary/acct. has gone with us before but it's been a few years. She loved the idea of going again and I told her the challenge the missionaries extended to our ward and she said she would love to help and pass out the cards to as many non-members as possible, since she knows so many. But the catch is - on passing out the cards is you have to tell them about the easter pageant and testify of a gospel principle and invite them to come. I think they called it a "TTI" (tell,teach,invite). If I'm wrong please correct me. I did testify to her that if she would come to the Easter Pageant she would come closer to Christ. It's that easy. My son Danny has a friend who is taking the missionary lessons and has now commited to baptism. It's that easy!! My son Derek who is on a mission in the London England mission is planning on 4 or more baptisms just this month. It's that easy!! So everyone please tell, teach and invite all your friends about the Easter Pageant. It's That Easy.

Singles Ward Bishopric

Did I forget to tell you Rick got put into the Singles Ward Bishopric? This is what they make you do to fit in with the younger crowd. We are a sorry looking bunch of outcasts from"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". Bishop Castillo is on the right with Rick (second Counselor) and I as Sony and Cher, most of the single adults have never heard of "Sony and Cher", and Darla and Ken Jones (1st Counselor). It was the annual 4th Ward's Halloween Party. Lots of food and fun.

Ward Campout Sept. 19-20th

We had a fun ward activity/mixed in with a hard bike ride for Rick and Jon.
It started out at our house at noon on Friday. Rick, Jon, Todd, Allen, and Bryce rode
their bikes as in peddling 78 miles all up hill to Payson. Got there around 6 p.m.
We met them at the Subway about 10 minutes after they got there. It takes about
1 1/2 hours of driving in a car. They replenished their energy by eating at the greasy
KFC. Then we headed on up to Camp Lomia (a church owned girls camp). It was so
fun to get together with everyone playing games, watching all the families show off
their talent or not so much talent. The Green family was a mariachi band and sang
to the tune of La Bamba, only our own words: "We're not really mariachi's, we're just
a couple of Green-Go's with mustaches on. We sing for food all day long. Burritos and
Taco's make us strong. We hope you enjoy this little song...Green-Go a go-go....It was
silly but fun. All the adults played games till about 1:30 a.m. and the kids ran around
till about midnight. We were the old geezers and fell asleep about 11:00. Breakfast was
bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs and pancakes. It was a super activity that really brought
our ward together.

Girls Camp June 4th - 7th 2008 Camp Lomia

Well after serving over 10 years in some leadership capacity at girls camp I finally get to enjoy it with my own daughter Mackenzie! I was her cabin mom along with 4 other 1st year girls. We were Super Heroes in Training. Our ward was The Flash. This was the best year ever because we had great weather, and all the girls seemed to get along and we just had a really fun time.

Havasupi Trip May 2008

Kenzie and I got to tag along with Rick's Teachers
Super Activity. This is Mooney Falls a 200 Ft. Waterfall. The water was freezing cold but crystal clear. After a 10 mile hike into the canyon the cold water felt good on the old toesies. I came away with no blisters, Kenzie got one on her heel and Rick was covered. We spent 3 nights enjoy the beautiful sights.
