Cheap Cheap

The sign said "Cheap" "Cheap" $2.50 for baby chicks. How could I resist so I bought 2. I already have 3 - big ones. ( Two that earn their keep and one that's just a free loader).
Our dog Bentley is half mother Hen. He will watch over these little chicks until they are big enough to go into the big chicken coop. And he will keep watching and keep watching. This is what he did to our other baby chicks. Baby chicks need to keep warm when they are just weeks old. The temp. should be about 95 degrees. I have a 100 watt bulb on them and it's suppose to get down in the 30's tonight. I think I will call one "Henny" and the other "Penny".

Back in Young Women

I had a years rest from Young Women and now they put me back in as President, replacing Nettie who was a GREAT President. We have 16 girls in our ward which is not a huge amount but there is always room for a few more. I've had 2 activities since I was put in. The above picture is at a Priest's basketball game. The girls cheered loudly and treated the boys with Rice Krispy treats at the end.
Beehives had fun making hair rosettes, while the Mia Maids and Laurels learned how to make Calzones from Karen A. I love YW and am excited to be back into the action!! I was teaching Relief Society and helping out with Achievement Day Girls, (which some of the girls are now Beehives). Cindy G. was also put in as 1st Counselor replacing Marisa. I sure love Marisa she was Kenzie's leader and did such a great job and also incharge of the Trek. Cindy is a great organizer and party planner. I've worked with her when she was Relief Society Pres. And we have such a great group of girls!!

Busy Weekend

The weekend started out with a surprise birthday party for Kenzie's friend Moriah. About 50 kids showed up at our place and they had a DJ, XBox Kenect? projected on the wall, bon fire, ping pong and food and lots of loud music. Everybody had a great time, even some of the neighbors enjoyed the music, (a change of pace from our sleepy old neighborhood). The girls had been working on it for months, organizing and planning. And it payed off.
This is our neighbors garage across the street from us. He restores classic cars and there's even a airplane he's working on. He had a classic car drive in at his house on Sat. I enjoyed looking at all the beautifully restored cars that came.
Darla playing Vanna White.
This is the corvette Darla was really salivating over. I could see her in one of those with her scarf blowing in the wind.
I wouldn't mind one like this to go cruis'in in. But my mini just suites me fine!

Martin's Roasting Party

Darla and Ken put together a wonderful party for our dear friend Martin who has contacted colon cancer. A bunch of friends gathered together to honor him and tell so many stories of Martin and his crazy things he would do. This is Corilee peeking through the chip basket. Everybody brought Mexican Pot Luck. It was a great night visiting old friends.
Julie and Marvin, great friends who had moved out of the ward.
This is Martin getting the "last word" in like he normally does.
This is a group shot of everyone that came.

Birthday Trip

We met our good friends in Las Vegas - Shawn and Jane from Calif. and celebrated Ricks birthday and their anniversary. We stayed in the very modern and lovely "Aria" which is pictured below. I enjoyed it very much.

Jane and I were kissing up to our dear friend Elvis.
This is the newest hotel "The Cosmepolitan" which is very glittery and different.
This was taken at the Belogio. Anything horsey I gravitate to.
We visited the little know outpost called the "Mormon Fort". A historical state park at the north end of the strip. This is where the mormons came and settled Las Vegas. The first white people to do so.

My highlight of the trip was to visit the Pawn Shop where my favorite TV show is filmed called "Pawn Stars". I got a glimpse of Chummlie, and Big Hoss, and Rick and the "Old Man" out in the parking lot. We waited in line for 20 min before we could go in. Then when we got in they told us to get out because they were going to film inside the store. Here is Rick and Shawn looking at a motorcycle (of course) in the pawn shop. I got a T shirt.
This is a very expensive and priceless sculpture done by the famous Henry Moore which was positioned outside our hotel.

This is outfront our hotel "Aria" we had a really great time, eating lots of Buffets and walking our feet off shopping and talking. Happy Birthday Rick....
